Muchangpo Sea Parting

This is the beach that was first opened in on the west coast in 1928, the white sands are 1.5km long and 50m wide, the depth of the water is 1-2m, the water temperature is 22˚C, and the slope is 4˚. The pine forest around the beach is abundant so that you can enjoy the sea and the woods at the same time.

Mt. Seongjusan recreation Forest

Mt. Seongjusan Recreation Forest is one of the most beautiful spots in the Charyeong Mountains. Hwajanggol Valley in Seongju-ri, Seongju-myeon proudly boasts of its 4km long heavy forest. Hwajanggol Valley means "Valley of Great Graves" because there are eight propitious sites for graves around Mt. Seongju, and one of them is hidden in this valley. It’s one of the 11 beautiful valleys in Chungnam.

It was completed in October 1998. Two tributary streams originated from Mt. Seongju (Seongju-myeon) and Mt. Seongtae (Oesan-myeon) respectively meet and form Uncheongcheon (stream). Since the stream is blocked by a dam, Punggye-ri, Yongsu-ri, and Pyeongla-ri sink into the lake which reaches halfway up Mt. Ami and Mt. Yanggak.

Mt. Oseo

People have loved Mt. Oseo because they could look down to the West Sea and a gorgeous field of eulalia grass from the ridge of the mountain. Even though it was called “Mt. Oseo” – a term which refers to where crows live- because of a lot of crows and magpies, they are now rarely found there.

Oeyeonyeol-do

People have named it Oeyeonyeol-do, as if the island leads the rest of the islands. The meaning of the name of Oeyeon-do indicates that it is too far from the shore and it looks as if it is covered by smoke.

Since the military base of Chungcheong Sugun Jeoldosa (naval commander-in-chief) was constructed during the early Joseon Dynasty, Ocheon Port has been a pivotal base for seashore defense in the Chungcheong area. A fortress, a military base for officers, and Jinhyulcheong remain.

Nampo embankment has become a new tourist spot in Boryeong. The beautiful 3.7km-long coast road presents a perfect driving course. It’s also good for a walk.
